Grade-Increase Guarantee, terms and conditions.
Last updated: May 2026.
Section 1
Overview
Bailey Tutoring Group guarantees a minimum improvement of one grade in each enrolled subject. If the student does not achieve the agreed target grade upon completing the twelve-week programme, BTG will continue tutoring at no additional cost until the target is reached, subject to the conditions set out in these terms.
Section 2
Definitions
- Programme
- A twelve-week structured tutoring engagement in a single subject.
- Baseline
- The student's assessed grade at the start of the programme, established via a past paper from the relevant examination board sat under timed conditions and marked using the official mark scheme.
- Target
- One grade above the baseline, agreed in writing between BTG and the family before the programme begins.
- Final assessment
- A different past paper from the same examination board, sat under the same timed conditions at the end of the twelve-week programme, marked using the same official mark scheme.
- Continuation tutoring
- Additional sessions provided at no cost if the target is not reached and all conditions have been met.
Section 3
How the baseline and target are set
Before the programme begins, the student sits a past paper from their examination board under timed, examination-style conditions. BTG marks the paper using the official mark scheme. The resulting grade becomes the baseline. The target is one grade above the baseline. Both the baseline and the target are confirmed in writing with the family before any tutoring begins and before any payment is taken.
Section 4
How improvement is measured
At the end of the twelve-week programme, the student sits a different past paper from the same examination board, under the same timed conditions, marked using the same official mark scheme. The guarantee is assessed against this internal final assessment, not the external examination itself. This means progress is confirmed immediately at the end of the programme rather than months later when external results are released.
Section 5
Conditions the student must meet
The guarantee applies provided all of the following conditions are met throughout the programme.
- The student attends a minimum of 90% of scheduled tutoring sessions. Missed sessions count against attendance whether cancelled in advance, missed without notice, or withdrawn from late.
- The student completes all practice work and assignments set by the tutor between sessions, by the deadlines given.
- The student completes the full twelve-week programme without withdrawing or pausing early.
- The student sits both the baseline assessment at the start and the final assessment at the end of the programme, under the conditions described in these terms.
- The family maintains reasonable and timely communication with BTG throughout the programme, including acknowledging progress updates, responding to tutor queries, and raising any concerns promptly.
Section 6
What happens if the target is not reached
If the student meets all five conditions in Section 5 and does not reach the target grade on the final assessment, BTG will provide continuation tutoring at the same weekly frequency and format, at no additional cost to the family. Continuation tutoring is capped at a maximum of eight additional weeks. No fees of any kind are charged during the continuation period.
Section 7
When the guarantee does not apply
The guarantee does not apply in any of the following circumstances.
- The student withdraws from the programme before completing all twelve weeks, for any reason.
- The student's attendance falls below 90% of scheduled sessions.
- The student does not complete assigned practice work as directed by the tutor.
- The student does not sit the baseline assessment, the final assessment, or both.
- The family does not maintain reasonable communication with BTG as described in Section 5.
- The programme is terminated by BTG due to conduct that disrupts sessions or prevents effective tutoring.
Section 8
Scope and multi-subject enrolment
The guarantee applies to GCSE and A-Level subjects enrolled in a twelve-week BTG programme. Each subject is assessed independently against its own baseline and target. Where a student is enrolled in multiple subjects, the guarantee applies to each subject separately. A student may meet the guarantee conditions in one subject and not another.
Section 9
Refunds and cancellation
This guarantee is a continuation-of-service guarantee, not a money-back guarantee. BTG does not offer refunds under the guarantee. If the student withdraws before completing the programme, standard cancellation terms apply, to be outlined in the full service agreement. The guarantee does not create any entitlement to a refund of fees already paid.
Section 10
Limitation
BTG's total liability under this guarantee is limited to the provision of continuation tutoring as described in Section 6. BTG does not guarantee any specific result in external examinations, university admissions, or any outcome beyond the internally assessed grade improvement described in these terms.
Section 11
Agreement and acknowledgement
All guarantee conditions are explained during the initial consultation call and confirmed in writing before the programme begins and before any payment is taken. By enrolling in a BTG programme, the family confirms that they have read, understood, and agreed to these terms. A signed copy of these terms forms part of the programme enrolment documentation.
